In the late 1890s, the Mathew Gloag, nephew of the founder, decided to create a blend to attract nobles who are coming in the Highlands of Scotland for sport activities such as fishing, hunting, shooting.First he gives the name ##Grouse Brand##, inspired by the red partridge, symbol of National Game Bird. His daughter, Philippa, paints the red partridge which then becomes the trademark of the drink. Quickly, the ##Grouse Brand## is so popular and so dear to the brand, that is given the name ##The Famous Grouse##. .
